Shockwave Therapy in Langley

HealthX now offers comprehensive shockwave therapy treatment using the most advanced unit to date, the BTL -600 SWT. Shockwave therapy is an innovative and non-invasive form of treatment that has been known to be extremely effective at breaking down calcium deposits and scar tissue present. Shockwave therapy involves bursts of high-energy pulses to the injured area. These pulses of energy aggravate muscles, tendons, ligaments or bones at a cellular level which accelerates the healing process through enhancing blood-flow to repair the damaged tissue.

What to Expect

A shockwave therapy treatment session should take anywhere between 10-20 minutes. Using the BTL-600 SWT machine, a short duration of high-energy pulses will be transmitted to the injured area in order to stimulate the blood flow to the injured area. This will also stimulate the cells in your body (osteoblasts and fibroblasts) that are responsible for bone healing, creating new bone tissue and healing tissues.

Will I feel any pain?

There may be some slight discomfort as the result of this treatment, usually depending on the sensitivity of the injury. If this is the case, please let your physiotherapist know and they will adjust the intensity of the therapy.

You can expect a near complete absence of pain in your injured area after a short number of sessions (typically 3-5) depending on the condition of the injury.
