Virtual Physiotherapy Services

All the benefits of physiotherapy – pain management, improved mobility, and injury recovery – are possible from your own home. HealthX Physical Therapy is pleased to be providing online physiotherapy services through Telehealth to continue to serve our customers when they can’t physically visit our clinic.

The entire HealthX team of physiotherapists and kinesiologists are fully licensed and specially trained to provide you with the best possible care online. Even through video, we hold ourselves to the highest clinical standards.

Whether this is your first assessment, or you already have an ongoing physiotherapy program, we’re fully equipped to make Telehealth work for you. You’ll work directly with your physio to discuss, assess, and diagnose problems. Your physiotherapist will help you to manage your condition and provide activities to alleviate your symptoms.

If you have any questions, please call us at (604) 332-4487 or fill out a contact form; we can’t wait to continue working with you.

Read on to see the answers to some of our frequently asked questions about our Telehealth appointments.

How do I make an appointment?

If you want to book an appointment, our reception is available to answer phone calls and emails every Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Telehealth appointments are available from Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. Once you have scheduled your appointment, you’ll fill out our online intake forms that will tell you everything that you need to know to connect with your physio. Please note that the appropriate consent forms must be filled out in order to use our Telehealth services.

On the day of your appointment, your physiotherapist will send you a link via email to connect via Zoom to your telehealth session. (This email appointment link is usually sent 5-10 minutes ahead of your scheduled time).

How does a virtual physiotherapy appointment work?

Upon booking an appointment, you’ll receive an email link to connect with your physiotherapist via video on your computer, tablet, or phone at your designated appointment time. If this is your first assessment, you’ll be consulting with your physiotherapist to assess and diagnose your physical status. Our priority is to listen to your concerns and formulate a plan to manage your exact pain and condition.

Our trained practitioners will be able to recommend customized activities that will alleviate your symptoms and advise you as to what issues will exacerbate your condition. We will educate you on your conditions and self-management techniques you can do at home, as well as develop home exercise programs where appropriate.

To maintain your recovery, we will advise on an appropriate follow-up schedule and tell you any necessary equipment, such as braces or tape, that you may need to recover most effectively. This consistent support, and the ability to recover in the comfort of your own home, will help with restoring mobility, managing chronic pain, and reaching your full capacity again.

Does my insurance cover virtual physiotherapy?

Most health insurance plans that cover physiotherapy cover Telehealth physiotherapy services. However, we advise you to check in with your insurance provider directly to make sure that you are being covered.

The following Extended Health Benefits Insurance companies have confirmed that we may provide direct billing on your behalf, reducing out of pocket expenses and saving administrative time for our patients:

  • Pacific Blue Cross
  • Canada Life / Great West Life
  • Sunlife
  • Manulife
  • Medavie Blue Cross
  • GreenShield

We also direct bill ICBC and WorkSafeBC on approved claims and are happy to check into that approval for you.
